Debbie Hollingsworth Marr was born on August 26, 1958 in Portland Oregon. She was adopted at birth by Marcene Kleinsasser and Bob Hollingsworth. Her younger sister Tami was adopted a few years later.

Debbie attended school in Oregon City and graduated from Oregon City High School in 1976. While in high school, she worked in a laboratory at OHSU that was conducting research for the March of Dimes. She was raised in the United Brethren Evangelical Church where she played the organ for church services. She also played the organ at Oaks Park.

She attended Reed College and completed several years of course work towards her undergraduate degree. When she was a student at Reed she had a position in a laboratory that had a nuclear reactor that created isotopes for medical research.

Debbie had a love of the outdoors and spent much of her younger years river rafting, scuba diving, and fishing.  She also loved nature. Blue Hydrangeas were one of her favorite flowers.

Debbie’s career was focused on finances including a position at Far West Federal. She was later employed by the Federal Reserve in the Coin Vault when it was still located in Portland Oregon.  She had retired from the Federal Reserve when she met her husband Kit Marr in August of 1998. Kit was an active member of the Portland Family Peace Fellowship and Debbie was an active member of First Covenant Church.
