Fumio Kurita was born in Ashikaga-shi, Tochigi-ken in Japan on August 19, 1948, as the fourth son.
He joined the Unification Church while in high school and after graduating from high school, he moved to Tokyo as a full-time member.
He started working by collecting waste articles for recycling just as other early members did in the 60’s. He came to the United States in 1972 and was initially assigned to East Garden as a ground’s keeper and to take care of many other matters. He was able to have many close relationships with True Parents and these experiences became the core of his faith. Later he went to the New Yorker Hotel and started to help businesses under Mr. Kamiyama. He received the Blessing as a part of the special 74 Couple Blessing in New York in 1976. He continued his business mission and eventually he moved to Hawaii in 1988 and started his own tour company.
He continued to help our church members for traveling needs. His diabetes worsened and he lost consciousness for the first time about 1 year and half ago. At that time True Father appeared in his dream and told him it was not his time yet. He regained consciousness, and he was able to do rehab. Since then, Mrs. Kurita took care of him very closely and she recalls that this period became a very precious and intimate time as a couple. He returned home and after a week of home hospice, he showed his appreciation to his wife the night before and in the morning of the 27, he took his last breath peacefully while his wife and daughter were present.
Mr. Kurita will be at rest in the Oze Memorial Park in Japan.
