Judie met our True Parents in 1967 in Los Angeles, CA. She was blessed to Roland Lejeune in 1975 in Korea.  She has three beautiful children – Brian, Michele and Christophe and four grandchildren, Xavier, Brandon, Alexander and Anastasia.  Her mother, father and older sister have passed away.

Judie was born in Ft. Lauderdale, FL on Sept 28, 1946, to Donald and Eunice Culbertson.  When Judie was 7 days old the family drove to Los Angeles, California and she spent her middle and high school years in Santa Clara, CA (just south of San Francisco).

When Judie was 13 her mother died of polycystic kidney disease, the same disease that afflicted Judie. Her husband, Roland, offered his kidney to her in August 2001.  A gift of life for over 24 years.

After high school she ended up in the drug culture of the 1960’s and became a nightclub dancer.  At 20 years old she stopped the dancing and started a spiritual journey traveling around California searching for God and her purpose of life.

At 21 years old (1967), she found herself in Los Angeles sitting next to some railroad tracks, calling out “God if you want me, you better take me now, or you aren’t gonna to get me at all”.  The very next day she met the Unified Family, moved into the center and never left.

Under the guidance of Jon and Sandy Schuhart her potential for teaching and caring for others was nourished.  After pioneering in Phoenix, AZ Judie was called to support the New Haven, CT center in 1970.  In 1971 she moved to the E. 71st Street, New York Church where True Father assigned her to work for Col. Bo Hi Pak in Washington, DC as his secretary and assistant.

Upon hearing that she was to move to Washington, DC to work for Col. Bo Hi Pak, her legs buckled and she told the brother who brought the news that she is not qualified for this position and cannot do it.  He said, “tell Father”.  She said “okay” and she soon found herself at Belvedere face-to-face with Father and Mother.  Father took her hands and said, “I can tell by the shape of your face and your hands that you can do this – you should go.”

In January 1971 she moved to Washington, DC to work for Col. Pak at the Korean Cultural and Freedom Foundation.  She stayed with him for six years.  During that time, she supported Dr. Pak through the famous Fraser Hearings in 1976-1977 and his transition to becoming Father’s translator. Dr. Pak supported her along her spiritual journey, during her blessing in 1975 and the difficult road of becoming a mother.

When Judie and Roland found out they could not conceive after many struggles, Dr. Pak advised them to adopt, saying “it is important that you experience the parental heart”.  At that time there were no adoption of children within the movement in America.  It was the best advice Roland and Judie ever received.   They adopted two children from Korea and

received an offering baby within the movement 10 years after the adoption of their daughter.  Judie would tell her children “you were not born under my heart - you were born in my heart”. Most importantly, the love she received from her husband, children and grandchildren brought her the greatest joy imaginable.  They remain a close-knit family supporting each other through the ups and downs of life.

Some of her most fond memories were sharing family gatherings and watching her grandchildren grow up as beautiful children with the values of love, caring and serving others.

Over the years in the DC Metro area Judie started the first Children’s Workshops and Sunday School while living at Upshur House, DC.  Eventually she became the Sunday School Director for DC which evolved into Director of the DC, MD and VA Sunday Schools when we opened our separate churches in the DMV area.

She was also on the first Board of Elders for Northern VA and became Sunday School Director for VA.  Shortly thereafter she started the first Youth Ministry in Northern Virginia.

In 2011 she became co-pastor of the Northern VA Church along with Rev. Ernest Patton.  After serving two years she continued to serve in a variety of positions, including Education Team Director, WFWP, Blessing and Family Ministry Coordinator for Subregion 2.

One of Judie’s greatest joys was teaching Divine Principle. Her ability to teach came from her heart, her personal study of Divine Principle and listening to others. She honors Jon Schuhart for trusting and guiding her to explore this area of her life, Barbara Mosely-Marks for pushing her out into the public eye, and Ernest Patton for being her spiritual mentor and friend always.

Judie’s deepest prayer was to continue serving Heavenly Parent, True Parents and the Providence until the day she died. She also wished for her family to know God’s love as completely as she does.
