In Loving Memory of Our Beloved Mother
Kazuko Walton was born on January 1, 1948, in Maebashi, Gunma Prefecture, Japan—a true New Year’s baby. She grew up in the countryside with her family, living a simple and peaceful life. She had one brother and was supposed to have an older sister, but sadly, her sister passed away only 21 days after birth. Kazuko was born a couple of years later.
She graduated from high school and, at the age of 18, came across an inspirational message from a religious church that deeply touched her heart. This eventually led her to join the Unification Church.
On February 17, 1973, Kazuko came to America as a Japanese missionary. She served as a mother captain, caring for and supporting several members. She would drive them around in a large white van as they went out to do witnessing work. Her faith became an important part of her life and shaped many of the journeys that followed.
In 1980, Kazuko married her husband through the 2075 Holy Marriage Blessing. She became a devoted wife and, later, a loving mother. Her son, Takamasa Walton, was born on January 8, 1985, followed by her daughter, Julia Walton, on September 30, 1988.
Being married to a state leader and lecturer meant that Kazuko and her family traveled frequently. Around 1990, the family embarked on a difficult mission to Russia, where they participated in underground missionary work and taught the Divine Principle. Their journey also took them to Mongolia and Siberia.
This life was not always what Kazuko had imagined for herself. She had once hoped for a simple life with an ordinary working husband, but she remained devoted to her faith, her husband, and her children. Together, their journey took them from Russia to Oklahoma City, Queens, Kingston, New York, and eventually Las Vegas, Nevada.
In 2020, Kazuko and her husband were recognized as a Cheonbo couple, honoring their years of dedication and faith.
On October 7, 2023, Kazuko lost her beloved husband. His passing was an incredibly difficult time for her. He had been the love of her life and her companion through so many years and experiences. In the years that followed, she began experiencing memory loss, and around 2025, she was diagnosed with dementia. It became a difficult and heartbreaking battle that gradually took away many of the things she once enjoyed.
But dementia never took away the person she was at heart.
Kazuko remained a sweet, gentle, and kind woman who loved to smile whenever she could. She had a way of making the people around her feel loved, welcomed, and cared for. Even as her memory faded, the kindness and warmth that defined her remained.
Kazuko left us peacefully on July 26, 2026, at the age of 78. She left this world far too soon, but we hope that she is now free from the suffering she endured and reunited with the husband she loved so deeply.
She is survived by her son, Takamasa Walton, and her daughter, Julia Walton.
Her life was one of faith, devotion, sacrifice, love, and kindness. Although she is no longer with us, the love she gave to her family and to the many people she touched will remain with us forever.
