Christopher David Walter Barnard, 66, of Lake Peekskill, New York, passed away on June 28, 2026.

Born in Westerham, England, on May 13, 1960, Christopher lived all over the world in his younger years before settling in New York. He never lost his roots, and he never lost his dry, sarcastic, unmistakably British sense of humor. He had a gift for the perfectly timed remark, delivered with a straight face, and those who knew him loved him for it.

At the center of his life was his wife, Anna. Married for thirty-three years, they began their life together in Briarcliff before settling in Lake Peekskill, where they made their home.

A craftsman by trade, Christopher spent decades as a woodworker at Hudson River Inlay, where his patience and precision turned raw material into something beautiful, and where he worked alongside friends who became like family.

Sport was a lifelong love. Growing up, Christopher played field hockey, rugby, and soccer, and he passed that love on to his son. He coached Timothy’s soccer teams and made sure Tim grew up playing nearly everything, from soccer, basketball, tennis, golf, baseball, and skiing to the occasional round of paintball, traveling across the country to be there for all of it. In later years, father and son found their game in golf, which they shared right to the end.

Before his years in woodworking, Christopher worked as a mechanic in Jamaica, Queens, and cars remained a lifelong love. He spent many happy hours restoring older BMWs, often with the Eagles, Phil Collins, or Genesis playing while he worked. He loved the ocean and never missed a chance to swim.

Christopher was devoted to his dogs, above all Milo, his companion of eight years, who passed away this past September. The two spent hours together at the dog park every day and were rarely apart. The family takes comfort in the thought that they are together again.

Christopher is survived by his loving wife, Anna Bertha Barnard; his son, Timothy John Barnard; and his daughter-in-law, Maria Gisela Longhitano.

Visitation will be held on Tuesday, July 7, 2026, from 4:00 pm to 8:00 pm at the Joseph F. Nardone Funeral Home, Peekskill, New York.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Wednesday, July 8, 2026, at 10:00 am at St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Church, Shrub Oak, New York.

Cremation will follow privately.

Instead of flowers, the family asks that those who wish to honor Christopher consider a contribution to the Memorial Fund established in his name, or a donation to theNorth Shore Animal League, the shelter from which all of the family’s beloved dogs were adopted, in memory of Christopher and Milo.

A memorial service will also be held on July 10 at 7:30pm at Belvedere Family Church.
