Yaeko Shibata Echevarria was born in Hamamatsu, Japan in the Shizuoka prefecture to Yoshiko and Tomoichi Shibata, who owned and managed a local textile company in her town. She joined the Unification movement in Tokyo in 1974.

Her husband, Dimas Echevarria, shares his memories of their life together:

We were matched and blessed in 1982 at the New Yorker Hotel. We worked together for Saeilo Machinery Sales Department New York for many years after MFT and UC activities. From the moment I saw her when True Father introduced me to her at 26 years of age in the New Yorker, I was in love. When Father matched us he pulled me by my shirt and pulled her very tenderly toward me with such love and a huge smile on his face. Yaeko was an amazingly loving and kind soul. She truly had an unconditional heart of love and forgiveness.

She gave birth to our daughter, Alicia Yukie Echevarria, on March 24, 1991.

Yaeko survived a hard and tough battle with colon cancer for a few years before Covid-19 infected our world. Yet amazingly enough she never caught Covid-19 and stayed strong. We were told that cancer did not metastasize into her body, but unfortunately, years later it did.  We found out she had developed lung cancer during a routine check-up. After a brave and very tough battle from complications due to lung cancer surgery, Yaeko ascended to Heaven surrounded by her family and friends on March 12, 2023.

She will be laid to rest next to my mother, Irene Rivera Echevarria, in the Forest Lawn cemetery in Covina, California.

She was my air,  she was my world, she was my life. I can honestly and passionately say from the bottom of my heart and soul, that Yaeko was my Grandmother, Mother, Sister, Wife, and my best friend.

Until we meet in the Kingdom of  God in Heaven, I and Alicia will deeply and truly miss her every second, minute, and hour of every day of our lives.
