The Parents Matching Convocation (PMC) is a wonderful opportunity for parents to understand the Matching Process, learn from those who have matched their children successfully, network with other parents and consider potential matching candidates. The PMC is not a place to finalize matches but to connect with other parents, learn about candidates and prepare to develop a Family Matching Plan based upon your child’s priorities and preferences. We recommend that parents attend a PMC before beginning the matching process with their children. Parents whose children are at least 16 should participate in a PMC simply to learn and prepare. Participants in this PMC will receive the brand new, vastly improved 2nd edition of the Family Matching Handbook. They will learn about the matching websites, the international matching process and other resources to support them in matching their children. They can also meet Matching Advisors who are prepared to assist and support them.
The PMC registration process and submission of candidate information and photos is entirely online through BlessedFamilies.org. To register for the PMC and submit candidate profiles through “Matchbook”, see link below.
(Note: You must log in to BlessedFamilies.org as a site user before registering. Once you log in, you will see all instructions for registering and submitting candidate profiles)

On October 3-5 at the Unification Theological Seminary in Barrytown, NY the national Blessing and Family Ministry will be hosting a Level 2 Blessing Workshop. This program is intended for Blessed Children and Jacob Generation 18 and older and Unification Church members of one year or more who are preparing to begin the matching process. It begins with self-reflection: “How prepared am I, and what am I bringing to the table?” It deepens participants’ understanding of healthy relationships, and introduces the value of lineage. In the case of Blessed Children, we clarify their heritage from True Parents and their own parents, and their future legacy. It introduces The Family Matching Handbook, and Finding the One: a Guide to Matching and Blessing in the Unification Tradition which provide clear, step-by-step guidance for beginning and following through with the matching process successfully. It includes these four presentations:
This will most likely be the only Level 2 program offered on a national level this year. However, improved curriculum materials for Level 2 workshop and small group study will be available so that local programs can be organized. Two Level 3 workshops for engaged couples will be organized, in New York and in California in December/January, 2014.

This year the retreat was held at the Warwick Retreat Center in Warwick, NY on July 18th -21st, 2014. On the morning of July 18th, fifteen participants (six parents and nine children) from around the world arrived in Warwick, NY, and were greeted by our GBOT Ministry staff with food, coffee, and their Welcome Packets at registration. As a part of the registration process, all participants agree to sign a contract, (which we refer to as “The Deal”) which is a commitment to confidentiality, respect, and abstaining from any drinking, drugs, or sexual activity for the duration of the retreat. The Deal was respected and upheld by all attending.
We started our program with a circle of open sharing by all attending, including parents and staff, to identify what brought us here. The sincerity and motivation of each participant was carefully clarified, and all participants were sworn to respect the privacy, integrity, and confidentiality of each family involved. Every effort was made to protect the sensitive situation of each participant. This set the tone for the weekend for that of open honesty. Allowing each participant to express their heart in ways many had never done before. The moments between parent and child, hearing each other’s experiences in such a safe yet candid way was particularly moving.

On July 11-13, 2014 the National Blessing and Family Ministry (BFM) conducted a Matching Advisors (MA) Training and Parents Matching Convocation (PMC) in Columbus, Ohio at the beautiful, newly renovated Columbus Family Church (CFC). It was the first MA Training and PMC held in Columbus Ohio. The BFM team was invited to Ohio to conduct a PMC by David Young, the CFC Assistant Pastor. Organization and leadership of the convocation was a team effort of dedicated members of the CFC who graciously volunteered their time and energy, and the national BFM team.
