In Memory of Brian Goldstein
Name: Brian Goldstein
Birth Date: January 12, 1943
Blessed Date: July 1, 1982

Brian joined the Unification Movement on July 21, 1978 in London. Soon after, while on an actionizing team in Sheffield, he had a spiritual experience. A vision of his mother in a beautiful garden appeared above him in the night sky. Brian asked her how she got there. He was surprised because she had been an atheist and a communist. She replied that it was because of him. From this experience, Brian knew then that the spiritual laws explained in the Divine Principle were true.
After working as a graphic designer for New Tomorrow and One World magazines in Europe, Brian moved to New York to work for News World. In 1982, Brian was matched and Blessed in marriage with Ellen Vogel.
Brian loved literature, art and music. One day he produced a stripped down version of The Mikado. It featured John Sonneborn on piano, a Japanese soprano in the part of Yum Yum and Dan Fefferman as lead male vocalist.
Two years later, Brian and Ellen moved to Poughkeepsie where Brian furthered his education at New Paltz, studying fine arts, painting and Art History. It was at this time that their son, Gilchrist, was born.
Several years later, the family moved back to New York where they lived in a house in White Plains with the Taj Hamad and Greene families. There was a large fort in their back garden in which their artistic son, Gilly, would sing and dance with the aid of a toy recorder and microphone, putting on a concert for anyone there. While living in White Plains, the Goldsteins were bequeathed a black, wooly, Chow-Chow puppy named Cha Cha. The puppy had belonged to one of True Parent’s daughters.
Later, Brian, Ellen and Gilly moved a few miles away to Thornton. There Ellen contracted breast cancer. Although she fought it with both spiritual and physical means, on July 7, 1997 Ellen succumbed.
In 1999, Brian was matched by True Father with Gloria Frothingham in a comfort blessing. Their Blessing took place by satellite, with Brian in New York and Gloria in Honduras where she was working as a National Messiah. Brian and Gilly moved to Honduras and lived with Gloria and her son, Steven. There, Gilly and Steven became fast friends. Two years later, concerned about their son’s educations, the family decided to move back to America. Travelling by jeep, they made the long trek up the Pacific coast. Crossing into Texas, they finally landed in Wheatland, CA. where they lived with Bob and Maree Gauper. While in Wheatland, Brian would undergo triple by-pass surgery. It was from there, too, that an eighteen year old Steven would join the U.S. Army.
From Wheatland, Brian, Gloria and Gilly moved to Oakland, CA. Seven years later, after a stray bullet passed through a wall in their home, luckily without harm, they moved to Hayward. There with his loving wife, Gloria, at last Brian could find the peace he needed to begin drawing and painting again.
