Rev. Sun Myung Moon and Dr. Hak Ja Han Moon, founders of Family Federation for World Peace and Unification, began the tradition of the Marriage Blessing in 1960. Based on their lifelong commitment to a world of strong marriages and empowered families, the Marriage Blessing has become a worldwide tradition where couples dedicate their marriage to a greater purpose and God. In response to the breakdown of traditional marriage in our world, the Marriage Blessing offers a path to build a world of stronger marriages and healthier families. The Marriage Blessing takes traditional marriage to a higher level of purpose.
The Holy Marriage Blessing Ceremony is a celebration of the commitment of one man and one woman to love each other eternally and to create a strong marriage and empowered family.
First and foremost, it’s an opportunity to bring comfort and joy to God. God is desperately longing for all of humankind to be restored. Each time a couple receives the Marriage Blessing, God experiences tremendous joy, and the fulfillment of God’s ideal for humankind becomes more of a reality.
All of humankind needs to be restored to God’s lineage. This can only happen through the Marriage Blessing given by the True Parents. The Marriage Blessing Movement helps make this possible.
True Parents have made it clear that all of God’s children need to receive the Marriage Blessing and become Blessed Families. By hosting Marriage Blessing Ceremonies more frequently and inviting couples to participate, we are directly responding to True Parents’ desire.
Receiving the Marriage Blessing is also one of the best ways for people to become a part of our Unification Family. Barriers in heart can be broken down when we are able to relate to each other as Blessed Family members instead of “members” and “guests.”
Through the Marriage Blessing Movement we can easily promote God’s original intention for marriage and families in our society in a very natural way.
Finally, in order to fulfil our role as Tribal Messiahs we need to give the Blessing, and this movement makes this possible.
“Why do we get the Blessing? In order to give the Blessing to others and see that the Blessing goes to the whole world.” – Rev. Sun Myung Moon, Blessing and Ideal Family
Essentially, it is an initiative to give more couples throughout America the opportunity to receive the Marriage Blessing from the True Parents by having Marriage Blessing Ceremonies occur more frequently in more locations throughout America.
“The Unification Church mass wedding ceremony is not just a wedding ceremony of a man and a woman to make a family. Until now, marriage was centered on the individual self, but our wedding ceremony is holy and has the content to make God happy and the condition to indemnify history. Our marriage ceremony is to liberate God’s grief caused by Adam and Eve’s fall and fulfill what Jesus could not, which is to pass through the standard of the bridegroom and bride. This is explained clearly in the Divine Principle.” – Rev. Sun Myung Moon, Blessing and Ideal Family

If more vests are needed, they can be multiplied using the same pattern for sewing new vests with a similar color and fabric. Before beginning to sew the new vests, Holy Salt should be used on the fabric and thread. The district can make as many vests as needed.
